Medicine helps with aches and pains and sickness, but can it take care of everything that keep us from feeling our best?….surely not!
Even if we do not realize, each one of us probably has a remedy to fight the blues, or to fight low energy, or to improve skin complexion…some natural cure that you use to help you feel and look better…no matter what the problem is.

What is your number one natural health remedy?

From what I’ve observed, food trends, such as the “Edible Dirt” trend, (dried or charred ingredients resembling ash, sand or soil that give dishes an earthy look, aroma and flavor) get popular for a few years at a time, are seen at several restaurants, and then somewhat fizzle off of the cuisine radar…..

If you don’t already follow one of these trends, which healthy food trend do you see as most realistic, for you, to follow?
1. Organics
2. Vegetarianism
3. Veganism
4. Raw Foods
5. Juicing
6. Growing Your Own

Snacking, something we all do several times a day. It is good to keep our body fueled frequently throughout the day in order to keep our metabolism running as well as give our body the energy it needs to carry out our daily functions. However, making sure that the snacks we chose are healthy is very important when trying to keep a healthy diet and maintain weight. Healthy eating can also taste great! Being creative with different snack combinations and trying new foods is always a good idea!

What is your favorite healthy snack?

Staying active is a very important part in living a healthy lifestyle. There are multiple ways to be active throughout your day, without having to go to a gym.

What did you do to stay active today?!

Of course there is a standard food pyramid that people try to model their daily intake from….such as 6-11 grains, 3-5 vegetables, 2-3 dairy, 2-3 meat products, 3 fruits, and a small amount of sweets, fats or treats. But everyone is not the same, and people don’t live by the same lifestyles as everyone else…for example, a gluten intolerant person may have a small portion of grains in their diet, but more fruits. College students often have a larger top segment of the pyramid than others (a characteristic of the college lifestyle that many are trying to change).

What does your nutritional food pyramid look like?

There is no better way to start off a New Year with a clean slate, and focus on self-improvement!

It’s great to have an open mind about trying new foods…this is a great way to increase the variety of foods you eat and to increase the colors on your plate.  Try a food from a  different country, a different restaurant, or a different food group!

What was a food that you recently tried for the first time, and loved?!

Even when trying to eat healthy, it is perfectly fine to enjoy your favorite treat every so often.  It is not worth it to follow a strict diet and completely deny yourself of the foods that you enjoy the most.

Topic of the day:

What is your guilty food pleasure?….if you had to add some healthy color to it, what would you choose to do?

What is the most important aspect of a healthy lifestyle for you?
